School Success
Team School Success works to support and further the academic and personal development of students in grades K-12, to eliminate barriers to their achievement and to help prepare them for life success.
Brentwood Boys & Girls Club
At BGC, we inspire and empower elementary and middle school children through tutoring sessions and special events hosted in collaboration with Club staff and the community such as the Career Fair. The Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
Read & Feed at Kentwood
At Kentwood Community Learning Center, we work closely with the staff of two Wake County nonprofits: Communities in Schools (CIS) of Wake County and Read and Feed. CIS Wake County has partnered with the Wake County Public Schools System since 1990 to help remove the barriers that put students at risk of wasting their potential. Its mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. The mission of Read and Feed is to strengthen literacy skills among underserved elementary school children and provide meals in a nurturing neighborhood environment.
Note in the Pocket
Officially founded in 2021 by women working on an individual level to provide clothing to students in need, Note in the Pocket has a mission to provide clothing to impoverished and homeless school children with dignity and love. It works with Wake County Public School System social workers and case managers from 12 other agencies that serve the homeless and impoverished. JLR volunteers help process incoming donations and provide other support for this mission.
