Strong Family Foundations

Helping Families Build Stability and Stronger Futures
Strong communities begin with strong families.
Through Strong Family Foundations, Junior League of Raleigh members work alongside organizations helping individuals and families create safe, stable home environments, access essential resources, and build skills that support greater independence.
From turning empty houses into homes and helping prevent child abuse to supporting families working toward employment and financial stability, JLR members contribute their time and talents to organizations addressing both immediate needs and long-term opportunity.
How We Make an Impact
The Green Chair Project
Turning Houses Into Homes
JLR members support The Green Chair Project’s work to provide essential household furnishings to individuals and families rebuilding after homelessness, crisis, or disaster. Volunteers help prepare donated furnishings and household essentials and support the organization’s day-to-day operations.

SAFEchild
Helping Create Safe, Nurturing Families
SAFEchild holds a special place in JLR’s history. JLR helped establish the organization as part of its longstanding commitment to protecting children and has continued supporting its work through financial investment and thousands of volunteer hours.
Today, JLR members continue that legacy by supporting programs designed to prevent child abuse and help families create safe, nurturing environments.

StepUp Ministry

Stability Is Built in Many Ways
A strong family foundation can begin with something as fundamental as a bed to sleep in or furniture that makes a new apartment feel like home.
It can mean giving parents the tools and support to create a safe environment for their children.
It can mean helping a family build skills, pursue employment, and envision a more stable future.
Strong Family Foundations brings these different needs together around one shared goal:
Helping individuals and families build the stability, resources, and confidence to move forward.
Leadership Through Service
JLR members don’t simply provide volunteer hours. They work alongside experienced community organizations, learn more about the challenges facing Wake County families and develop skills in collaboration, problem-solving, relationship-building, and community leadership.
Stronger families help build a stronger community.
