Whether you’re looking to give back, develop as a leader, meet incredible women, or become more connected to your community, the Junior League offers an experience unlike any other.
Every member begins with the New Member Experience—a welcoming introduction to our mission, our members, and the community we proudly serve.
Designed with flexibility in mind, this five-month experience combines leadership development, volunteer service, community engagement, and relationship building to prepare you for Active Membership.
From your very first event, you’ll discover that the Junior League is about much more than volunteering.
It’s about learning.
Growing.
Leading.
And finding a community that will support you every step of the way.
Your New Member Experience
Learn. Lead. Serve.
Throughout your New Member Experience, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the Junior League of Raleigh, the needs of our community, and the many ways you can make an impact.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Participate in leadership development workshops and League trainings
- Complete a Poverty Simulation that builds empathy and understanding of community challenges
- Volunteer alongside fellow members during a Community Impact shift
- Attend a Placement Fair to explore volunteer opportunities across the League
- Meet League leaders, mentors, and members from every stage of their League journey
- Discover the committee or placement that best aligns with your interests, skills, and passions
- Build meaningful friendships with women who are beginning the same journey as you
You’ll also be paired with experienced League members who are there to answer questions, provide encouragement, and help you navigate your first year.
By the time you complete the New Member Experience, you’ll not only understand the League—you’ll feel like part of it.
No Interview. No Pressure.
Joining the Junior League of Raleigh is simple.
There is no interview process and no special qualifications beyond a desire to learn, lead, and serve.
Once you’ve completed your application, submitted your required forms, and paid your membership dues, you’re officially part of the Junior League of Raleigh.
From there, your leadership journey begins.

Fall Cohort
August–December
Applications for the Fall 2026 cohort have closed.
Spring Cohort
January–May
Applications for the Spring 2027 cohort will open this fall.

Submit your membership dues and complete your onboarding materials.
