School Success
Helping Students Learn, Grow and Succeed
Every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Through School Success, Junior League of Raleigh members work alongside community organizations to support the academic and personal development of students in grades K–12, help remove barriers to achievement, and prepare young people for success in school and beyond.
From tutoring and literacy support to mentoring, career exploration, and access to essential clothing, JLR members help create opportunities for students to learn with confidence and envision what’s possible for their futures.

Note in the Pocket
Clothing Students With Confidence
JLR members support Note in the Pocket’s work to address clothing insecurity by helping process clothing donations and prepare quality, seasonally appropriate clothing for children and families in need. JLR’s current School Success page identifies Note in the Pocket as one of its placements.
JLR IN ACTION: Clothing processing • Donation support • Clothing insecurity awareness • Hands-on service
Removing Barriers to Success
Academic success isn’t determined by what happens in the classroom alone.
A child may need help strengthening reading skills. Another may benefit from a caring adult who helps with homework or introduces them to new career possibilities. Another may struggle to participate confidently at school because they don’t have properly fitting, seasonally appropriate clothing.
School Success allows JLR members to work alongside organizations addressing different barriers while pursuing the same goal:
Helping young people have the support, resources and opportunities they need to succeed.
Leadership Through Service
Our members don’t simply volunteer. Through these placements, they learn more about the challenges facing students and families, build relationships with community partners and develop skills they can carry into other leadership roles.
When we invest in students, we’re investing in the future of our community.
