THE GREEN CHAIR PROJECT
Turning Houses Into Homes
A stable home requires more than four walls.
For individuals and families moving forward after homelessness, crisis, or disaster, the cost of basic household furnishings can create another significant barrier to starting over.
The Green Chair Project helps bridge that gap by providing essential furnishings and household items to individuals and families referred through its network of community partners. Its goal is to help people turn stable housing into a safe, functional, and welcoming home.
Junior League of Raleigh members help support that mission through hands-on volunteer service.

Why a Furnished Home Matters
Stability Begins at Home
For a family transitioning out of homelessness or recovering from a crisis, securing housing is an important milestone. But an empty apartment can still lack the essentials needed for daily life.
A bed.
A table.
A sofa.
Kitchen essentials.
The everyday things that transform a space into a functional home.
The Green Chair Project works with more than 100 nonprofit and community partners to provide furnishings and essential household items to Wake County residents rebuilding after homelessness, crisis, and disaster.
A furnished home can provide more than comfort. It can help create the foundation for a fresh start.

Furnishing Homes. Strengthening Families.
For a family rebuilding after hardship, household furnishings can represent something much bigger than furniture.
They can represent stability, dignity, and the opportunity to begin again.
Through its partnership with The Green Chair Project, the Junior League of Raleigh helps turn donated resources and volunteer time into something families can feel every day:
Home.
