What is the NC Governor’s Inaugural Ball? 

A celebration of everything that makes North Carolina great, Inaugural Ball events help the Junior League of Raleigh continue its 94-year mission to pioneer and promote programs to support at-risk youth and empower women. 

A legacy of strengthening communities: 

Since 1933, the Junior League of Raleigh has been honored to host the Governor’s Inaugural Ball. This event, which celebrates the newly elected Governor and Council of State, helps the League continue its community service tradition by raising much-needed dollars to support projects and programs that benefit North Carolinians. 

Through this tradition, the Junior League of Raleigh can achieve its vision of strengthening communities by embracing diverse perspectives, building partnerships, and inspiring shared solutions. 

Who benefits from the events? 

The North Carolina Governor’s Inaugural Ball events are a fundraiser for the League and an opportunity to give back to our local community. This year we will also designate funds from the ball to support Western North Carolina relief efforts.

The Inaugural Ball is a nonpartisan fundraiser — no candidate or political party benefits from the events. 

2025 INAUGURAL BALL EVENTS: 

Celebrate North Carolina 

Celebrate North Carolina, a special event for young professionals across North Carolina, kicks off the Inaugural Ball celebration at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, at the contemporary art museum, CAM Raleigh. Smart casual attire is suggested. 

First Lady’s Luncheon 

The First Lady’s Luncheon, a signature event that celebrates the incoming First Lady, allows women from across the state to gather to show support for the First Lady. This business attire event begins at noon on Friday, Jan. 10, at the North Carolina Museum of Art. This event will not be ticketed. 

Council of State Reception 

The Council of State event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. This cocktail reception honors the 10 elected executive offices of the Council of State. Cocktail attire is suggested. Beer, wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres are included in the ticket price. 

• Who is the Council of State? It includes the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State Auditor, Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, Commissioner of Labor, and Commissioner of Insurance. 

Gala Presentation 

The Gala Presentation, a grand and formal affair, is an hour-long celebration that formally presents the newly elected Governor and Council of State. This black-tie event starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in Venture Hall at the Marbles Kids Museum on Saturday, Jan. 11, immediately preceding the Inaugural Ball. 

Inaugural Ball 

The Inaugural Ball will begin in Marbles Kids Museum on Saturday, Jan. 11, as the Gala Presentation concludes. Guests attending this black-tie affair must have a valid photo ID to enter. The ticket price includes beer, wine and food.
