The Junior League of Raleigh is pleased to announce the hiring of new League Director Dorothea Bitler. This new staff role will manage day-to-day operations of the Julia Jones Daniels Center for Community Leadership (CCL), manage the CCL and Bargain Box staff, work in conjunction with the President to create and maintain partnerships in the community, and help direct fundraising strategies for the JLR.

“We know that many of our partnerships, whether it be funders or community agencies, will benefit from a consistent relationship with the League. Working in conjunction with the President, Dorothea will be that long-term, consistent relationship for our partners,” saidJunior League of Raleigh President Marisa Bryant. “We are thrilled that Dorothea, who is so loved and respected by not only her fellow League members but also the wider community, has chosen to accept this newly revamped role as League Director. Her vast experience in fundraising, marketing, and managing both employees and volunteers will be such a tremendous asset to the League.”

Bitler is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Raleigh and brings a breadth of nonprofit experience to her new role. As the first full-time executive director of the WakeMed Foundation, she defined the role of executive director and launched the Foundation. Following that, she served as the executive director of the N.C. Museum of History Associates, blending her role as a long-time volunteer and board member and bringing the organization back to a mode of growth and sustainability. Bitler has also worked in marketing, communications and community relations with the United Way and IBM and for the last 8 years, she has served as Director of Development for Our Lady of Lourdes Church and School. She begins her new role as League Director on February 19.
