The League's oldest fundraiser was founded in 1951.
It provides affordable, high-quality, second-hand clothing, toys
and household items to the community at large. The store operates
on a year-round schedule except for major holidays. In addition,
"the Box" annually donates thousands of dollars of merchandise to
agencies serving the needy in Wake County.
"The Box"
A simple purchase can make a world of difference. That recycled
but new-looking suit will help a discouraged young father face tomorrow's
job interview more confidently. Across the aisle, a mother is helping
two children excitedly select clothes for school. In another part
of the store, a family new to the area is shopping for essential
housewares. It's a typical day at the Bargain Box, the thrift shop
in Cameron Village operated by the Junior League of Raleigh. Here,
the League's focus on caring means offering much-needed items at
a greatly reduced price.
Celebrating over 50 years in the community, the Bargain
Box offers high-quality, secondhand clothing and household goods
donated by League members and the community. Proceeds from this
on-going fundraiser go to support JLR programs and projects throughout
the community.
Since opening its doors in 1951, the Bargain Box has
contributed more than $1,000,000 to the League's efforts, to better
the lives of Wake County citizens. In addition, clothes and household
items are regulary donated to local agency clients, helping Wake
County help families in need.
The Bargain Box is staffed by dedicated and caring
employees and volunteers who are ready to help both donors and shoppers.
Visit our store... browse, shop, donate items you think someone
would find useful (all donations are tax-deductible) ...and help
us help others in need.
