JLR to Donate 20% of Bargain Box Proceeds to Harvey Victims

This week, shoppers at the Junior League of Raleigh’s Bargain Box will gain more than just new fall outfits; they will have an opportunity to support those who are rebuilding their homes and lives in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. From Monday, September 11, through Saturday, September 16, Bargain Box will donate 20 percent of its total sales to the Junior League of Houston’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which supports nonprofit organizations that directly assist hurricane and flood recovery programs. This partnership is a part of JLR’s involvement in the Association of Junior Leagues International, which supports a network of sister Leagues across the nation and the world.

“The Junior League of Raleigh’s Bargain Box has long been one of our most generous programs, giving tens of thousands of dollars worth of vouchers each year to community agency clients who can come in for clothing and home goods,” said Junior League of Raleigh President Marisa Bryant. “We are happy to now use our Bargain Box sales to help those in Texas who have been devastated by this catastrophic storm.”

As one of the JLR’s major fundraisers, the Bargain Box contributes to the community by providing steady support to the League’s programs, volunteers and services. Since opening in 1951, the Bargain Box has contributed more than $1 million to the League’s efforts.  The Bargain Box sells high quality, gently-used clothing, accessories and household items provided by the League’s members and community donors.

Located in the heart of the historic Cameron Village shopping center at 401 Woodburn Road, Bargain Box is open 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Donations are accepted daily.
