Say “Yes!” to the Dress at the November GMM

We’re ready to have a ball, but first Cinderella needs to find a dress! The Inaugural Ball team and Bargain Box are joining forces to collect ball gowns for the upcoming 2017 Inaugural Ball events.

League members are invited to donate new or gently-used, high quality ball gowns at the November GMM, Tuesday, November 8. All gowns will be available for preview during the GMM, so come and pick out your favorites! Then join us at the Bargain Box and say “Yes!” to your dress!

Members donating gowns are required to sign up online (limited to 75 people on a first-come, first-served basis) and may donate a maximum of 2 ball gowns. Bargain Box team members will be available at 6:00 p.m. at a table inside the GMM meeting area for drop off. Donations will be accepted until the end of the membership meeting.

Ball gown dresses only! All gowns must be on approved Bargain Box hangers. Approved hangers are clear, plastic hangers. No wire or dry cleaning hangers, please. These donations will count toward meeting your Bargain Box quota requirement and a tax receipt will be provided.

All ball gowns not purchased by League Members for the Inaugural Ball will be used for a new partnership with Hope Community Church, which will be hosting a “Night to Shine,” a prom centered around people with special needs.

Look for more information to come regarding how to purchase the gowns at the Bargain Box following the GMM. Let’s have a ball!

Making an Impact After Hurricane Matthew: Gift Card Donations

Thousands of people across our state have felt a tremendous impact from the effects of Hurricane Matthew. Many of us are from these towns or have loved ones and friends in these areas that were hit the hardest. We have heard firsthand the challenges these people are facing and will continue to endure in the months ahead.

We, as a League, have a great opportunity to pull together and support these areas through various relief efforts. What an opportunity we have to impact our state by supporting those who need it the most!

How can you help now?

Gift Cards Donations – We are collecting gift cards to Target and Walmart in five dollar increments to distribute to impacted areas. Drop off gift cards with a staff member at the Julia Jones Daniels Center for Community Leadership. Gift cards will be sent to the Junior Women’s Association of Greenville, NC and Junior League of Fayetteville every Friday starting October 21. These groups will distribute them to hurricane victims in their areas.

We will also be rolling out several other ways that we can participate in relief efforts. Stay tuned for more information in the coming days.
