WAKE UP and Read Annual Book Drive
Each year WAKE Up and Read sponsors an annual book drive. Last Spring, the WAKE Up and Read book drive netted an incredible 114,025 children’s books for young readers, well surpassing their goal of 110,000 books. The drive was a huge success – more than 7,000 Wake County children received 10 new books each to help them build their home libraries and develop a love for reading.
Please save the date for our 2017 drive, and consider collecting books. From January 21 – March 4, WAKE Up and Read will be collecting new and gently-used books for children ages birth-12. WAKE Up and Read will provide signage, timelines and instructions; we just need you to host a collection bin and spread the word! We know that helping children develop a love for reading early in life can pave the way for later school success, and we want to ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to grow and thrive.
If you are willing to host a collection site for WAKE Up and Read this year, please click here or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. If you are unable to help collect books, there will be plenty of other ways to get involved. To learn more about the WAKE Up and Read collaborative campaign, please visit www.wakeupandread.org, or find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/Wake-Up-and-Read.
Thank you for your support – together we can make a difference here in Wake County!
