Since 1933, North Carolina’s newly elected governors have selected the Junior League of Raleigh to serve as the host of the Governor’s Inaugural Ball. This event, which celebrates the Governor and Council of State, helps the League continue its tradition of service to the community by raising much-needed dollars to support our projects and programs. It is through this tradition that the Junior League of Raleigh is able to achieve its vision of strengthening communities by embracing diverse perspectives, building partnerships and inspiring shared solutions.
Over the years, money raised from inaugural balls has benefited SAFEchild, Communities in Schools, Heritage Park’s Community Learning Center, the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Center for Community Leadership.
At its heart, the Junior League of Raleigh is a training organization. Our mission is to promote volunteerism, develop the potential of women and improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. This is why we work for thousands of volunteer hours to organize the Inaugural Ball every four years since 1933.
